2011 Ride Info:
To raise awareness and funds in the fight against one of world’s most insidious diseases – Cancer.
What started as an idea to honor a loved one who passed from cancer six years ago, has evolved into eight cycling friends taking the challenge of riding from Fort Kent to Kittery, Maine- over 400 miles -with the goal of raising money in the fight against cancer. From passion, dedication, and inspiration, Spokes for Hope was established. Cancer is pervasive, destructive and cruel. Every day we lose 1,500 people in this country alone - that’s today, tomorrow, and each day after that. Cancer has deeply impacted our group; there is a cancer survivor; many of us have lost loved ones to this disease; and several who have loved ones currently battling cancer. This ride is much more than the bike or the accomplishment of the ride- it is about giving hope. Hope to those with cancer to continue the fight, hope to those who have won their battle to live life again, and hope that we all will find a cure for cancer.
SAG (Support and Gear) Vehicle Drivers:
100% of the proceeds raised this year will go to two great cancer organizations: C.A.N.C.E.R. (Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education and Recover based in Presque Isle, ME) and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing. All proceeds will go to benefit these organizations, each team member will be covering their own expenses for this event. Special thanks to our official supplier of goo’s, energy bars, and endless chamois butter – MOJO Bicycle Shop in Presque Isle.

Extending over Labor Day, our small team will depart from Fort Kent in northern Maine at the Canadian border and travel across Maine ending at the New Hampshire border, passing through Kittery, Maine at the southern border. The trip will cover over 400 miles total in five days, beginning with two tough back to back 100+ mile days.
This year we have expanded the team to include a few more people with plans in the future to expand it further.
Please support the cause.
